It might make more sense if you start at the beginning ...
So it was quite a momentous weekend all round… Live 8 was HUGE.. (deserves a seperate journal entry which will follow) as everyone expected it to be… Wimbledon kicked ass… Magny Cours was great and yes… the best bit of all… Lance reminded everyone how incredible he is… oh.. and I REALLY pissed a hairdresser off….
After my whinge and whine about people insulting me last week… I managed.. in 5 words.. to piss someone off BIG TIME… and what really upsets me is that she thinks I said what I said with malace.. and I didn’t…
On Saturday morning (after rejigging appointments around on the previous Thursday… HB and I went to the hair salon… HB for a wash and blow dry and me for a badly needed cut… When we arrived HB was whisked away by her hairdresser and I was sat down in a different chair with one of the other hairdressers.. my usual guy (Kevin) looking suspiciously at me over the top of his morning paper. This new hairdresser asks what I would like her to do and my response was…. “Am I booked in with you?” She said yes and I explained that the only person in that salon that cuts my hair.. (whom I trust to cut my hair) is Kevin… She asks if I want Kevin to cut my hair today and I say Yes.. and here are the words I wish I could take back.. “He knows what hes doing”…. Meaning… he’s been cutting my hair for ages.. and he knows exactly how to cut it….
She promtly retorded.. “I can assure you I know what I am doing” and walked off..
Kevin looks up straightaway and just starts laughing.. and I’m trying desperately to sink into my chair. When she finally comes back I make a point off trying to explain to her how I didn’t mean for what I said to sound the way it did and she replied that she knew exactly what I meant… (which I strongly suspect she didn’t)
Meh.. not bad.. and it wasn’t even 9.30am.
Its incredible how you can have actually no knowledge whatsoever of something. and with a little patience and a clear head you can do something that you don’t think you can. This may not seem particularly clever or much of an accomplishment but on Saturday morning.. I fixed my shower… which is a bit of a bonus. The package arrived real early in the day.. (before I had left for the hairdressers) and once I had packed HB off to her friends for the weekend I was left.. with Pressure Relief Device in hand (and no I’m not talking about battery operated items here) and the chance to completey wreck my shower.
I succeeded in replacing said Pressure Relief Device.. and spending over £50 on new shower hose.. head and rail thingy.
I’m a domestic goddess… not…
This plumbing accomplishment was backed with flicking between the Mens Wimbledon Final.. Qualifying for Magny Cours Grand Prix and the start of the Tour De France… that might explain why it took me all afternoon to do a simple 10 minute job… oh.. I forgot to mention I re-aquainted myself with my power drill….
Go Me!!!!!
how sick must Jan Ullrich have felt when he could hear in his ear piece that Lance was catching him???? And how sicker must he have felt as he watched Lance fly past him… and pull away….
Its way too early to make predictions… because there is sooooooo much than can go wrong between now and the Champs Elysee.. but.. I wish him all the luck in the world…
